Music Video

We love music!  Who doesn’t?

As editors, we cut our teeth slicing-in moving images to the beat, learning the art of visual rhythm.  As filmmakers, we take things to a whole new level.  Whether you’re pop, rock, jazz, funk, soul, reggae and classical music - our tastes are eclectic and esoteric - and you want a promo that shines, call us.

Let’s discuss.

Lakeshore Avenue Green Never Was Your Colour

Lakeshore Avenue wanted a gritty and energetic music promo worthy of the UK music scene.

Filmed over several takes, performed live and seamlessly edited, this promo conveys the raw power of a live performance.

And thanks to the dedication and skill of the filmmaker it achieves a look eclipsing what might be expected from a lower-budgeted promo.

Simple Harmonic Motion

Endymion

Simple Harmonic Motion are a British band who are big in continental Europe.  Their sets and visual style often play out on multi-screen displays, more often than not in hallowed grounds such as churches and cathedrals.

This promotional video - based on the poem Endymion by John Keats, who in turn was inspired by Greek mythology - employs numerous filmmaking techniques (green screen, roto-scoping, et al) to create a vivid and highly-stylised look to match the visuals evoked by Keats' great poem.

The filmmaker had previously worked on the background visuals for the stage production of Jeff Waynes' War of The Worlds, and the band members of Simple Harmonic Motion were so impressed that they asked him to create the look for their own interpretation of Endymion.

“It has this haunting effect; and this is exactly what we were all after.  Great job.”

Living The Dream... While Paying The Rent

(In Development, Feature Documentary)

LOGLINE:

A larger-than-life buccaneer-type character rescues an abandoned, derelict, beautiful, centuries-old pub in a middle-England town, and in his desire to turn it into a thriving live music venue he enlists the aid of a House Band comprising four seasoned music pros and together they establish the best 'open mic' nights in the area, drawing in a plethora of both experienced and budding new musicians; but complications arise as the contrast between 'living the dream' and 'paying the bills' impacts heavily on everyone's lives, and while the passion from all for the music is evident, sometimes egos clash and tempers flare.

THEME:

How live music brings together a community.

Open Mic - Ye Golden Lion (After-Show Jam)

Tuesday, 7th November 2023

The following represents an idea for a documentary we have currently in development.

Live music is flourishing right now, as there’s a real thirst for it.  And open mics, in particular, provide the opportunity for talent at all ability levels to come together and play, improve and create communities.

So what is happening in this clip?  It’s on its way to midnight and surely it’s time to pack up and go home?  And yet the vibe is sooo good that these musicians simply want to stay in the magic.

Shot on mobile phones, so as not to intrude on what is an intimate space, the quality of picture and sound is what it is.  Authenticity is the watchword here.  Still, it is intended that the human story - the people and musicians - is to be filmed and interviewed later on broadcast-quality equipment.  There are some wonderful, flamboyant characters here, lifetime creatives who live for their art; but life as we know it takes as well as it gives, and the human condition thrives on the choices we make with the cards life has dealt us.  This is a universal story of Living the Dream while still having to pay the bills.
