Quagga Design
Quagga Design is a boutique, award-winning company specialising in the design and installation of in-store displays for élite retailers, handling projects from concept to delivery. Known for their quirky and innovative approach, they sought a corporate video to encapsulate this unique identity. Managing Director Steve Green, a charismatic and artistic leader, brings a surprisingly relaxed demeanour to this high-pressure industry, setting the standard for his highly successful team.
The video project aimed to capture this ethos by filming Steve on a sunny Sunday morning, coffee in hand, to reflect his calm and creative leadership. The production also documented the team in action during a typical workweek, weaving these authentic moments captured into the final edit. By focusing on the right tone and attention to detail, the resulting films not only met the marketing objectives, but also stood out as a testament to the art of corporate filmmaking.
C2C Social Action
C2C Social Action is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals at any stage of the criminal justice system, offering both one-to-one and group support. While the majority of its service-users are women, and it often functions as a women’s refuge, its impact extends far beyond that. At critical moments C2C has the power to transform lives for the better.
To reflect the charity’s core values and assist in fundraising efforts, this film was created. The process began with transcribing real-world interviews with service-users, many of whose stories would break your heart. These narratives informed the script, blending interviews with dramatic sequences, and extensive footage was captured and meticulously edited to craft a compelling story. The final presentation, nearly six minutes long, captures the viewer’s attention, making the time feel fleeting. As Julie Parsons, the founder, aptly states, “People have more value than they realise, and they are worth more than the worst thing they’ve ever done.”
Stokin’ The Fire
For their second single, There’s Something Going On Here, the production took a more intricate turn. Alongside securing a Victorian-era industrial location, we incorporated green screen technology. Mastering green screen lighting is a unique skill, and the post-production compositing process demands time, patience and significant computing resources.
Despite these challenges, the creative possibilities expanded dramatically, limited only by imagination. Completing this project was both rewarding and enlightening, offering a glimpse into the potential of green screen artistry.
...more from the band Stokin’ The Fire.
Northamptonshire boasts a vibrant music scene, home to seasoned industry players like the band Stokin’ The Fire. We were tasked with creating a promotional video for their debut single, Free, from their self-titled EP.
The shoot, which captures the essence of freedom, featured the band gathered around a campfire at the scenic Grendon Lakes – a memorable and enjoyable location.
The Sophie May School of Dance
Filming live events can be a thrilling yet nerve-wracking experience, especially without proper preparation – and even then, surprises are inevitable. The day involved capturing two 70-minute sets, featuring around 50 dancers and 60 songs. Coordination with the venue’s own internal sound and lighting teams was essential, as was bringing the right equipment, understanding the day’s schedule, and managing audience logistics. Above all, staying adaptable to the unpredictable was key.
The core principle of filmmaking is to “get it in the can,” and with live events there’s no room for retakes. Capturing the fluidity of dance requires anticipating the performers’ movements and tracking them seamlessly. Later, editing the footage to recreate the live experience as a cohesive film is both challenging and deeply rewarding.
The final product, a private streaming piece, is exclusively shared with the dancers and their families, preserving the magic of the performance for a select audience.
The Duston School, Northampton
Through our collaboration with the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce we were invited to present at a careers workshop for students at The Duston School, Northampton, focusing on media and filmmaking. Our session centred on analysis of the script to the beloved movie Dead Poets Society (apt for a classroom of kids being “all creative n’all that”), and the simple notion that a film script always functions as a blueprint for how various professionals within the film industry interpret and execute their roles, contributing to the overall production – the director, actors, camera & lighting teams, set designers, prop masters, costume designers, make-up artists, et al.
The event was a roaring success, culminating in an engaging Q&A session with the students.

The Musicians’ Take...
Northamptonshire’s live music scene has experienced a resurgence since the impact of Covid-19, with a growing appetite for Open Mic and Jam nights. These events provide a platform for both emerging and established artists to perform their talents, fostering a sense of community and creativity.
Inspired by this revival, we are developing a feature documentary that delves into the lives of working musicians. This project aims to explore the delicate balance they navigate between pursuing their artistic passions and meeting the practical demands of everyday life. Musicians, like many artists, often face the challenge of aligning their creative aspirations with financial realities, embodying the internal struggle between the needs of the soul and the body.
This documentary seeks to highlight the resilience and dedication of musicians, who, despite the hurdles, continue to inspire and connect with people in unique ways. Their stories reflect a universal truth: music has the power to resonate deeply within us all, regardless of our ability to play an instrument. Through this project we hope to capture the essence of what it means to live the dream while paying the bills, celebrating the unique spirit of those who dedicate their lives to the art of music.
